The Food Pantry/Greene received 42 donations of food and/or dollars during the February Souper Bowl of Caring food drive. Gifts in memory of Delbert Frey and a Church of the Brethren "Domestic Hunger Matching Grant" helped surpass the goal with 1769 cans of food and $3111. Non-perishables may be dropped off at Stanardsville Baptist Church, 103 Madison Road, left lower side door #6, Tuesday/Thursday from 10 AM – 1 PM. During the month of March, the Greene County Food Bank is requesting donations of cereals (hot and cold), pancake mixes and syrup, and juices. Donations can be dropped off at Social Services at 10009 Spotswood Trail (old Rt. 33) Stanardsville, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Your tax-deductible money donations for the food bank can be mailed to the Womans Club of Greene County, PO Box 352, Stanardsville, VA 22973. During the month of March, the Ruckersville Baptist Church will be having a Free Soup Kitchen each Wednesday 11:00am-1:00pm. It is open to the Community. The Church is located on 33E & Moore Rd/ Follow the signs!!!

March 5-April 30
Preschool Storytime at the Greene Library. Thursdays, March 5-April 30, 10:30am. Ages 2-5. Join us for books, flannel Stories, songs and finger plays. Each week's storytime concludes with a simple craft that your child can make and take home. Siblings are welcome. No registration required. Storytime will include an Egg Hunt on April 9!

Cheap Thrills Logo Contest. Summer will be here before we know it, and on of the first signs is our annual Logo Contest for Cheap Thrills at the Greene Library, the teen summer reading program! If you love to dram, submit your original design by March 28, and the winning entry will be featured on the front cover of our summer brochure! Prizes go to the winner and SIX runners-up!!! Entry forms and guidelines will be online at http://jmrl.org/pre-teens.htm and at every branch beginning in mid- February. Grades 6-12.

All Greene County pastors are invited to the monthly meeting of the Greene County Ministerial Association (GCMA) held at the Blue Ridge Café (Dutch Treat) in Ruckersville the first Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon to enjoy a fellowship luncheon together, encourage each other, and plan for the future. Book Discussion Group. 7pm. Greene Library. Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston (The Big Read). Discussion led by Hilary Holladay, a professor of English at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, and the author of three books on African American literature.

March 7
The Greene County Taxpayers Association will hold a spaghetti dinner on March 7, from 4:00pm-7:00 pm at the American Legion/GCTA Building on Route 230. Dinner will include spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and dessert. Adults: $6.00. Children 3-12 $3.00, under 3 years old free. Come out and enjoy the good food and fellowship, and bring the family.

The Madison-Greene Humane Society will be presenting a Rabies Vaccination Clinic on March 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Greene County Tech Center. Rabies vaccines are $8.00 each and will be administered by Dr. John Hayes, D.V.M.

The Montpelier Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will have a Brunch Meeting on Saturday, March 14 at 9:30 am at the Hebron Lutheran Church in Madison. The program, "Our Chapter Patriots" will be presented by Hazel Arruda, Tamina Painter, and Julia Lloyd. A $6 Brunch reservation check needs to be received by the Chapter Treasurer by March 11.
