During the month of July, the Greene County Food Bank is requesting donations of canned green beans and canned corn. Donations can be dropped off at Social Services, 10009 Spotswood Trail (old Rt. 33), Stanardsville, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Your tax-deductible money donations to the food bank can be mailed to the Woman's Club of Greene County, P. A lawn party will be held at South River Church on Saturday, July 12 beginning at 4 p.m. There will be fried chicken, country ham, mutton and lots of veggies and desserts. Please join us.

The Greene County Rescue Squad will hold a yard sale Saturday, July 12 beginning at 8 a.m. at 9845 Spotswood Trail, Stanardsville. All proceeds benefit the squad. For more information call 985-2660.

July 13
Is your son interested in playing youth football? Boys ages 8 to 13 are needed to participate in the area youth football league. Thomas Jefferson Youth Football League is currently enrolling for the fall season. Please go to website at: www.tjyfl.net to signup; there will also be an onsite registration July 13 at Albemarle County Office Building, 5th Street Extended, from 2-7 p.m. Online registration is open through July 31.

Mark Templeton and Pocket Change, a popular bluegrass band, will be in concert Saturday, July 19 at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 735 Park Street, Charlottesville. All tickets are $10; proceeds benefit Grace Baptist Church building fund. For details call 434-975-0260.

On July 19 starting at 2 p.m. at Orange Booster Park, many individuals and businesses from the community of Orange will be sponsoring a fundraising event to assist with raising money for the "Adam McGinnis Medical Fund." This benefit event will include entertainment such as live music, games (for all ages) and food. There will be door prizes, an auction, as well as other items for sale; all of which have been graciously donated by members of our community.
