April 24-25

April 26
Not your ordinary yard sale will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Church in the social hall from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26. This huge annual sale offers a wide variety of items; rain or shine (held indoors). Follow the signs from Rt. 33 west - one mile south on Rt. 633 (Amicus Road) to the church. Proceeds benefit the "Caring for the Children" Christmas Gift Project of the Woman's Club of Greene County.

Blue Run Baptist Church, Barboursville, will celebrate Women's Day Saturday, April 26 at 4 p.m. with guest speaker, Minister Alice Christmas from Bible Way Church in Louisa. Peggy Brice is pastor.

Ashley Reynolds will be in concert at William Monroe High School, Stanardsville, April 26 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is $8 with proceeds benefiting the volunteer rescue squad. Tickets are available at Java Express (Food Lion Shopping Center in Ruckersville) or at Calvary Chapel of Greene, (434) 960-1287. Purity Jam is a Christian, singer, songwriter, speaker, the recipient of Pop Artist of the Year in 2006 (KCCM), in Times Cover Girl in May 2007 and the 2007 Momentum Award Nominee. Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Nasons, will host a presentation entitled "The Fruit of the Spirit," Saturday, April 26 at 3 p.m. The following will speak on each fruit: Love, Min. Tracy Slaughter; Joy, Min. Ada Summers; Peace, Pastor Marva Robinson; Longsuffering, Min. Anne Lawrence; Gentleness, Min. Shirley Strother; Goodness, Rev. Anna Allsberry; Faith, Min. Deborah Coles; Meekness, Pastor Catherine Parker and Temperance, Evangelist Renee Edwards. Music provided by Shady Grove Male Chorus and Mass Choir. Sister Dorothy Page, sponsor. April 30-May 3
Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, Rt. 810, Dyke Road, will hold Spring Revival Wednesday, April 30 through Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. with guest speaker, the Rev. Buster Payne. There will be special music each evening and a fellowship meal at 6 p.m. on Saturday before the final service. Come and join us for an old-time revival.

May 3
St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church annual plant sale will be held Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 14414 Isidore Way, Rt. 15 South of Orange. Special gift boutique for Mother's Day or for your garden! Plants, bulbs, small shrubs from church members gardens, and starter vegetable plants from two area nurseries including annuals, perennials, hanging baskets and herbs; advice freely given. A church rummage sale will be held Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Stanardsville Baptist Church fellowship hall, lower level, door #6; follow signs. Start your morning with a ham or sausage biscuit and browse a wide variety of household items including furniture, books, toys and other items. Also spring/summer clothing for infants through adults. Sale to benefit the Women's Missionary Union missions projects.

May 4
Rock Hall Baptist Church, Wolftown, invites the public to the Men and Women's Day Service on May 4 beginning with the 11 a.m. service. Evangelist Shirley Strother will deliver the spoken word for the women and Antioch Baptist Church Choir will render songs of praise. At 3 p.m. the Rev. Maurice Evans, along with his choir and congregation, will deliver the proclaimed word of God for the men's service.

May 9
Abundant Life Christian Fellowship will hold a Gospel Sing May 9 beginning with a 6 p.m. covered-dish dinner, at 7 p.m. open stage and at 8 p.m. 4 The Lord, based in Richmond will entertain. Take Rt. 20 north of Orange to Rt. 631 across from Orange Co. Airport; go to large white church on the right. A love offering will be received; bring a covered dish if you like. Everyone is welcome. Food is provided and prepared by Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, Mt. Vernon, Stanardsville, Mountain View and Westover United Methodist churches, Spring Hill Baptist Church, Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church and other service organizations.
