Greene County Lions and Virginia Blood Services celebrated with 3 special blood donors at the June Blood Drive. All three received pins for their donations of blood.
In their long-term effort to give life-saving help to others, Schuyler Muller-Dussalt of Stanardsville has donated a total of 2 gallons of blood; “Doc” John Hayes has donated 5 gallons and Mick Carrier has donated 8 gallons.
These donations combine with those of many other donors in Central Virginia to meet the needs of patients in local and area hospitals and emergency rooms. Healthy volunteers can donate up to 6 times a year.
In all 26 people showed up at the Greene County Rescue Squad Building on June 9 to donate. The Greene County Lions thank all their donors: Janice Atkinson, Sandy Baker, Hortencia Bradley, Mick Carrier, Genie-Lee Coker, Evande Deeds, Schuyler Muller-Dussalt, Richard Early, Daniel Endres, Gary Forrest, John Hayes, Joan Hohenleitner, Cynthia Inzana, Howard Jadofsky, Brenda Jones, Susan McMorris, Betsy Martin, Ronnie Meadows, Lynne Morris, Katie Proper, Shelly Ripa, Dora Sheler, Janice Shifflett, Sandra Tuthill, Lonnie Tuthill, and Joyce Womack.
There is always a need for this life-saving liquid. The Greene County Lions ask you to schedule time into your summer activities to give blood wherever and whenever you can. The next Lions/VBS drive will be on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. For more information, contact Lions donor coordinator Mick Carrier @ 985-6648.
