Mountain View United Methodist Church invites all children to go to the edge this summer for Vacation Bible School. Camp E.D.G.E.: “Experience and Discover God Everywhere” is an extreme adventure camp taking kids on exciting Bible treks to experience and discover God everywhere, every day. The fun begins Monday, June 29th and ends Friday, July 3rd from 9 am to noon at Mt. View on Rt. 33. For more information, call 985-9833, 985-4063, or 973-3901.

Freedom Revival 2009. Come and join us at Solid Rock Full Gospel Church, 3580 Spotswood Trail in Barboursville for 3 nights of great gospel music, fellowship and food. Music begins at 7pm nightly. July 1: Austin Bridge and Restoration will be ministering in song to encourage the youth in our community. July2: Eighth Day Restoration and the Tuners. July 3: Paul Williams and Restoration. Stanardsville United Methodist Church is sponsoring an all-you-can-eat homemade BBQ lunch to raise funds to build the next Habitat House here in Greene County. Lunch will consist of homemade BBQ, coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad, dessert and a beverage. The cost of lunch is $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children from ages 2-6, and free for children under 2 years old. Tickets are available at the door. Tax deductible donations over the cost of the dinner are always welcome and needed. Checks can be made payable to “Habitat for Humanity”; designate “Greene Chapter of Habitat” in the memo section of the check to assure the funds stay here in Greene. Come one, come all, come hungry and invite your neighbors and friends to come as well.

The fun begins Monday July 20th at 6:00p.m. and ends with a picnic finale on Friday July 24th. Each day kids will rotate through story time, games, snacks, crafts and music. The Caring Companions will meet every 2nd Tuesday at Westover United Methodist Church at 7:00 pm. This organization gives individual support to the elderly in their homes. If you have a loved one who could benefit from an hour or two a week visit from a friendly face or you are able to volunteer an hour or so a week to be present to someone else. Greene County’s Ministerial Association will again form its GCMA Church Fall Youth and Adult Coed Softball League, beginning in September. To field a team, you must have 5 girls and 5 guys, ages 16 and older. Food is provided and prepared by Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, Mt. Vernon, Stanardsville, Mountain View and Westover United Methodist churches, Spring Hill Baptist Church, Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church and other service organizations.
