Greene County Sheriff

The Sheriff of Greene County is J. Scott Haas.  The citizens of Greene elected Sheriff Haas to this constitutional position on November 4, 2003.

The Sheriff of Greene County is a constitutional officer, as required by the constitution of Virginia.  The citizens of the county elect the Sheriff for a term of four years. 

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for providing law enforcement, courtroom security and the service of civil process.  Law enforcement consists of two functions.  The first function of law enforcement is patrol.  The second side is investigations.

The sheriff’s office is located at 10005 Spotswood Trail, Stanardsville and can be reached in non-emergency situations by calling 985-2222.


GCSO Emergency Communication Center (E911)
The E-911 Center, located in the Sheriff’s Office on U.S. 33 Business just east of the Town of Stanardsville, is staffed by approximately 11 certified and well-trained dispatchers.

Greene County relies on selfless volunteer firefighters and rescue squad members to help protect the community. Numbers listed are non-emergency.
