Volunteers needed to help care for patients at Greene Care Clinic. Receptionists needed Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12-noon to answer phones, pull medical records and check-in patients; also financial screeners are needed. During the month of March Greene County Food Bank is requesting donations of spaghetti sauce and noodles. Donations can be dropped off at Social Services, 10009 Spotswood Trail (old Rt. 33), Stanardsville, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Your tax-deductible money donations for the food bank can be mailed to the Woman’s Club of Greene County, P.O. Community bake/yard sale will be March 29 at Stanardsville Fire Department from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting the fire department. For more information please call 434-985-3496.
Join the American Legion Post 157 for a catfish supper, which is set for 5-8 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at 310 Thrift Road in Madison. The menu includes The cost is adults, $12; and children, 12 and younger, $5. There will be a warm atmosphere, featuring live country music and a 50/50 raffle. Teen Girls Book Group will meet at Greene County Library on Mondays, March 31, April 28, and May 19 from 7-8:30 p.m. Make new friends, discover new books; join us for our ongoing book group for teen girls ages 14 and up. The Ruckersville Citizens Council meets Tuesday, April 1 at Ruckersville Fire Hall at 7 p.m. with guests, Ken Lacey, County Assessor and Larry Snow, Commissioner of the Revenue. Topics to be discussed include real estate tax assessment policies and procedures, business tax policies and procedures and the availability of updated real estate and business tax information. Teacher Watershed Summit will be held Wednesday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Charlottesville Community Design Center, 100 5th Street, NE, on the Downtown Mall. Kindergarten registration will be held Thursday, April 3, from 3:45-6:30 p.m. Bring your child, if he or she will be five years old before October 1, 2008, with his/her birth certificate and social security number. Physical forms and immunization information will be given to you that evening. Registration will be held at both, Greene County Primary and Ruckersville Elementary. April 5
The Greene County Taxpayers Association, Inc. will hold a spaghetti dinner April 5, at the American Legion/GCTA Building on Rt. 230 from 4 to 7 p.m. The all-you-can-eat meal includes spaghetti, salad, beverage and dessert. Adults $6, children from three to 12 is $3 and those under three are free. Come out and enjoy the good food and fellowship.
Entrée Act Theater Group will be hosting a Dinner Theater at Blue Ridge Café in the banquet room Saturday, April 5. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Tories, the Famous Lee Family of Virginia is Stoking the Fires of the Revolution! Murder Spies and Wigs bound in an interactive murder-mystery play presented by Entrée Act.

The Greene County Historical Society’s annual dinner gathering will be April 6 at Rosebrook Inn at 4 p.m. Cost is $27 per person; make reservations by calling 985-2382 by March 29.

Greene County Library’s The Big Read, “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, is Thursday, April 10 at 7 p.m. Nick Patler, author and historian, will speak on “Killing the Mockingbird: Historical and Contemporary Efforts to Ban To Kill a Mockingbird.“

The Montpelier Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at Madison Presbyterian Church. A $6 brunch reservation check needs to be received by chapter treasurer by April 5. The program “My Trip to Normandy” will be presented by Montpelier chapter member, Cornelia Koeppel.

The Red Cross will be offering free CPR courses (regular price is $75 per person) Saturday, April 12, Standard First Aid and Adult CPR/AED and Saturday, April 26, Adult CPR/AED. For the seventh year, the Greene County Ruritan Club is sponsoring a spring road cleanup week, April 12-19 with teams cleaning most of the two-lane country roads. A typical team of two will work each side of a road section of about two miles in about 2 to 3 hours; if you have more people it goes faster. While many road sections will be cleaned, additional teams are needed. This is a chance to get a road near you ready for spring and summer. . Call Carl Schmitt at 985-9815 to participate.

Wes Iseli’s Magic and Illusion Show is Friday, April 18 at William Monroe High School Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m., sponsored by Ruckersville Elementary School. Admission is $6 per person, five and under free; advance tickets are $5 and available at RES. Food will be available for purchase and there will be a bake sale.
