On September 19, from 3-7pm, JABA is hosting and sponsoring Sing for their Supper, a song fest to raise money for home delivered meals for area homebound and to help defray the cost of lunches at its Greene Community Center. The event will be held at the JABA Community Center in the Greene County Library complex, in Stanardsville. Featured guest performers-The Troubadour Band. Interested groups are welcome to participate. Prepare two to three songs of any style. Event will be held in the parking lot. Please bring a lawn chair. Quilted Treasures Quilt Show will be held on Sat & Sun, October 3 and 4 from 11-4pm at the Madison County High School, located at 68 Mountaineer Lane. Display of quilts, raffle quilt, vendors and a silent auction. Admission is $5. Ample Free Parking, Proceeds to benefit Madison County Free Clinic and Madison Food Bank.
The Habitat Store and the Greene County Chapter of HFHGC have joined forces to provide a material donation drop-off site to residents of Greene County on Saturday October 3 from 9am until noon at the Lowe’s n Ruckersville. The Habitat Store accepts both new and used building materials, as well as wood furniture. All materials are sold at discount prices through our retail store, thereby extending Habitat’s mission by making home maintenance more affordable for all. (434) 293-6331

The Class of 1984 will be having their 25th reunion.. We are still looking for classmates, even those who attended the last reunion. There will be no charge to attend this reunion, just asking all to bring an appetizer and drink of your choice. We will be taking donations for the Stanardsville Fire Department in memory of our classmates who are no longer with us. Do you bazaar? Spaces are still available to artisans and crafters for the 34th Annual Helping Hands Craft Bazaar hosted by the Woman’s Club of Greene County. During the month of September, the Greene County Food Bank is requesting donations of canned vegetables (Please, no expired foods). Applications for the 2009-2010 school year are now being accepted for the Skyline CAP Head Start program in Greene County, open to preschool children three to five years old. Children must have turned at least three years of age by September 30, 2009. Those with special needs are encouraged to apply. Skyline CAP Head Start is a free program for income eligible families. Interested in Cub Scouting? Boys in grades 1-5 are invited to come out to Dover Foxcroft Farm (next to Spring Hill Baptist Church, corner of Spring Hill and Frays Mill Roads) Saturday 19 September from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and enjoy games like “cow roping”, three-point tug-o-war, soda bottle rocket launching and fishing in the pond. Refreshments will be available, and parents can meet the adult leaders for Pack 123. No requirement to join Scouts, but registration materials will be available. Come out and have some fun with us!
